English Floral Emblems Necklace

Truly a favorite layering piece. And the back-story is an amazing conversation starter! A 15-year-old was told by his teacher that it would be a good idea to widen his portfolio for University admissions and submit a design for the new English Pound. Did I mention, he was only 15 years old?

Over 6,000 applicants entered the contest, and David Pearce was the winner! His winning design features the floral emblems of the nations of the United Kingdom – the English rose, the Welsh leek, the Scottish thistle and the Northern Irish shamrock, emerging from one stem within a royal coronet. The obverse has the Head of State, Queen Elizabeth, II.

This is such a great story! The coin is much prettier than the pictures. The 12-sided coin is fabulously thick with a reeded edge design. I love that about English coins!  The pendant includes stainless steel ball chain (17") with an upgraded lobster clasp. If you would like an upgrade, the 10mm gold lock-in jump ring will fit on other chains. Have a look in our necklace section to see if there's another you might love as well.

What a great layering necklace. And bonus, the two-tone metal makes it even easier to mix and match with your own collection!

Special Notes: The chain can be made any length. It's currently on a 17" chain.
